This is the neatest thing you are doing. It frightens me a bit to look at the pictures of you dodging cars and chickens. I hope you get back in one piece. Tell Jan to stay tight on your tail light.

Way to go Merle - and cudos to Jan for all the support. Makes me think about acquiring a recumbant bike too - and I bet Dan would want one too. He used to be an avid bike rider - but now at 70 years of age on Christmas Day has given it up for less challenging walking. Keep up the spirits.

Wow! What a trip you are undertaking! You are one determined man, and I know that you will be successful. Wouldn't it be fun if Elaine and I, along with our husbands, could meet up with your caravan in Central Tennessee? Let's be in contact to work out details.

My dearest Merle ... Words cannot begin to express how truly proud of you I am! What a phenomenal undertaking! I was as blown away to learn of this trip as I was to hear you were taking a vacation to climb Mount Kilmanjaro! I will think of you daily and watch your progress ... can't wait for the fun to begin! Talk about arriving at your class reunion in style ... YOU THE MAN! I miss you much ... thanks for keeping me in the loop! Warmly, donnalynn (hmmm ... isn't it almost that time of year you gloat about your backyard bloomings?)

Merle, I doubt you remember me from TVD, since I was in Editorial, but you worked with Joe Williams, and he called my attention to this remarkable story. Joe and I are also letting a lot of people know about your trip, via sympathetic sites that we both belong to, which we're hoping will spread the word about your cause and will hopefully assist you on your journey. I wish you the best of luck, good weather and Godspeed. Lisa :-)

Merle - I'm so proud and awed by your undertaking - ge get 'em! I knew you were a tremendous trombonist and sound engineer but had no idea about this side of you. My sister-in-law has MS and this is such a worthy cause - thanks for the opportunity to support you and the cause!
